Did you asked this Important Question to yourself?
In a famous quote, Einstein proclaimed, “everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” So true, but in practice, students and parents give their best to make fish climb tree.
And hence its time to ask that BIG question to yourself… who you are? AND What are the best careers for you considering your own strengths?
In this blog, we are discussing the most important question of our life… Career Decision? A lot can depend on how we take career decision.
In our current culture, if A student scores 98% in Math and student B scores 98% in History, more likely the student who scored 98% in Math will receive more accolades and may be considered as more intelligent than student B. Irony of life. And, hence, traditionally specific courses receive more preference than the other.
Therefore, the myth is… a child would become successful only and only if he/she receives a specific degree or course. This type of career decisions may cost dear in long term. At times its difficult for students to reverse their path and continue to drag themselves relentlessly.
Very recently one of our students put her foot down and chose her dream career in journalism after spending close to 2 years in one of the engineering course. What we appreciate is that she could voice out her discomfort and enrolled her parents in the conversation. How many student and parents could do this?
We must understand that each one of us has certain unique abilities, orientations, and interests if engaged; success can be achieved. We can find many such individuals in society who have pursued their careers as per their strengths, abilities, and interests; as a result… doing well in life, are happy and enjoying what they are doing.
10th and 12th are two important milestones in one’s careers and hence it is important that professional guidance along with scientific career assessment or aptitude tests are sought in order to make an optimal career decision.
We must understand for sure that professional guidance is sought by every successful individual whether they are from business, corporate, or sports. They regularly seek professional advice from the experts, undergo various assessments while crafting their own developmental path.
The professional guidance offers rich knowledge about ourselves, giving a broad perspective on our strengths and weaknesses, the possibilities and limitations.
Therefore, it is equally important that as much emphasis we give it to academics, tuitions, and coaching; we should also look at career decision critically.
